Our 17-room property was fully remodeled in 2026, offering fresh, modern accommodations while maintaining the friendly, laid-back atmosphere our guests return for year after year.
Conveniently located at 1100 East Portage Avenue, we’re just minutes from some of the area’s most popular attractions, including the Soo Locks, local fudge/tourist shops, restaurants, and nightlife. Guests can easily explore highlights like the Soo Locks Boat Tours, the Tower of History, and the Museum Ship Valley Camp - all just a short drive away. For those looking to relax beyond the water, a nearby golf course offers another great way to enjoy the area. Nature and waterfront views are right at your doorstep. Located directly across the street from the St. Marys River, many of our rooms offer the unique experience of watching massive freighters pass by.
We are also home to Wild Bill’s Bait & Tackle, conveniently located right in our lobby and fully stocked with gear for your next outing. We’re proud to host many fishermen during local tournaments throughout the season. We’re also close to several boat launches and fish cleaning stations, making us a top choice for fishing enthusiasts. Anglers especially appreciate our parking area, which can accommodate boats and trailers.

This essential transportation link moves nearly 86 million tons of cargo annually, including 95% of the United States’ iron ore. Visitors to the Soo Locks can take in the sights and sounds of mammoth lake freighters and distinctive vessels, such as tall ships, sailboats, cruise ships, and military crafts locking into Lake Superior or Huron. The observation platform located in the Soo Locks Park provides a fantastic vantage point to watch the locking process. The park also boasts a lit fountain, manicured gardens, a beautiful Japanese archway, and trees representing those found throughout the Upper Peninsula.Bird's Eye Outfitters Coffee, Beer, and Gear! One of the popular routes is the hike between the Upper and Lower Falls. The state part is sprawled across a total of 46,179 acres, making it a great place to explore.Museum Ship Valley Camp Built in 1917 and retired in 1966, the Museum Ship Valley Camp is 550 feet in length and now features a variety of displays that will educate and entertain the entire family.More than 100 exhibits populate the ship’s cargo hold. What once held coal, iron ore, and limestone is now home to displays showcasing maritime memories, shipwrecks, lighthouses, and local history. Stroll at your own pace and soak up the romance and peril of life on the inland lakes.Visitors are fascinated by the exhibit featuring the freighter Edmund Fitzgerald. The unexplained sinking strikes a chord still today. Museum visitors flock to see the largest recovered pieces of wreckage – 2 lifeboats. The exhibit includes a film recap of the tragedy that claimed the lives of 29 sailors in 1975.Take a walk around the deck of the Valley Camp. Step onto the open air decks or glassed observation areas and watch as the St. Marys River unfolds before you. At a height of 210 feet an express elevator escorts you to the top where a 20-mile view awaits you. Identification panels assist as you spot local landmarks, including the Soo Locks. Historic displays tell the story of the area’s origins.The Tower of History is open to visitors from Mid-May through Mid-October.History & ExhibitsThe Tower of History was built in 1968 by the Catholic Church as the Shrine of the Missionaries. It was donated to the Sault Historic Sites in 1980 after the Church cut funds for other endeavors. The Tower of History remains true to its original mission of telling the tale of the early Missionaries but its focus has opened up to both local and Native American History. The lower level of the tower has informational exhibits along with a video presentation.
